Most Expensive Auctioned Furniture

If you’re looking to furnish a new room and have roughly $40 million to spend on just one piece of furniture, take a look at the Badminton Cabinet.

The cabinet is a very unique piece of furniture it took 30 experts six years to make this cabinet at the request of Henry Somerset. He was the Duke of the Badminton House in Gloucestershire, hence the name of the Badminton Cabinet. He requested the cabinet to be made at the age of 19. It sat in the house until the late 20th century when his descendents decided to auction it off. In 1990 it sold for $15.1 million, and in 2004 it retained value and was auctioned for $36.7 million. I guess what makes it desired is the history behind this piece.
