Most Expensive Auctioned Art

It’s always amazed me how expensive are could become. I’ve often wondered if artists from history such as Davinci, Michelangelo, or even the one that painted this very painting shown above, Picasso, ever knew that their work would someday be worth millions of dollars.

In 2010 Picasso’s Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust was auctioned off at Christie’s landmark Evening Sale of Impressionist and Modern Art. The panting was projected to bring in about $90 million in this auction held in New York. The painting was painted by Picasso in 1932 and came from a Collection of Mrs. Sidney F. Brody. You’re probably wondering in the $90 million projection was accurate. It was more than accurate not only did they receive the $90 million for the painting that they expected, but the received about $16 million more. In total the painting was sold to an unidentified telephone bidder for $106.5 million.
