Beach resorts are a dime a dozen. What those with superior tastes want to see is something unique, something they can make other colleagues with means envious about.
The InterContinental Shimao Wonderland, currently under construction in Songjiang, China is a hotel that does just that. Imagine staying in luxury hotel which was constructed on the site of an abandoned quarry and features some rooms underwater.
Guests will be provided with ultimate panoramic views of the ravine filled with water and rock formations. The area is currently depleted with man-made structures, but this 17-storey structure is sure to bring some rowdiness to the region. The tower stands only two storeys above ground, while the rest is embedded 80 meters deep along a rock face.
The curved facade of balconies offer panoramic views of the scenery while two submerged floors of sleeping quarters enjoy. Within the base of the building at water level, communal facilities including the a swimming pool, recreational area, conference centers and banquet halls accommodate up to 1,000 individuals.
The hotel is expected to open sometime in 2015.
